We have seen many issues with head lift in the 350Z and G35 VQ35DE motor. Therefore there has been two options that we have developed from this issue. First is to machine the block and cylinder head to accept a bigger head stud.
This can cost more than $800 with all the machining involved. Not to mention the down time with sending your cylinder block and head off to be worked on. As this is takes added time and is costly, we have come out with a better solution. We have worked a deal with ARP for a custom cut, special order L19 Head Stud Upgrade for the 2003> Nissan 350z and 2003> Infiniti G35.
The L19 head stud upgrade comes with Studs, Washers, and Bolts for a complete installation. No Modification to your 350Z's cylinder heads or block is required as these are a direct drop-in replacement for the OEM 350Z and G35 head studs! The L19 upgrade has greater clamping force than the upgraded head stud kit that we have developed in the past and over 1000psi more clamping force than standard ARP Head Studs. They are made of aerospace alloy that is also used in Funny Car and Top Fuel Dragsters. With a yield strength of 230,000psi and a tensile strength of 260,000 these will hold the high horsepower numbers you put down with your VQ35 motor. We have held in excess of 1400rwhp with the L19 design in many different motor applications, for example our Drag Nissan 350Z.
